Matt Moore the owner of FM Design Build coordinated the planning, construction and details of our "age in place" home construction from beginning to end. Secondary to our age and inexperience in construction, we initially felt "overwhelmed" by the details and tasks involved with building a new home. Matt's design as well as build experience made it so doable for us and gave us the reassurance and confidence that we needed to proceed. I highly recommend him and the subcontractors he utilizes. He responded to all our questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner. We felt we were in good, experienced, reliable hands throughout our construction and were able to trust that things would work out and go well.

Working with FM Design Build was an absolute pleasure. Matt Moore is an exceptional architect. He designed a home for us that is both beautiful and functional. His use of space is thoughtful and his designs truly stand out all over Kirkwood. Not only did he design our home but he was there every step of the way. He made himself readily available to answer questions and concerns, day or night, even weekends. He was so patient with all of our (my) last minute changes. And he really worked hard to meet each demand we threw at him. I can honestly say the whole experience would not be the same without Matt. We are so grateful we found FM Design Build - they built our dream home and I wouldn’t pick anyone else for the job!

When we told people we were planning to build a new home, everyone was quick to warn us about all of the headaches, delays, and unexpected cost overruns that usually comes with new construction. After meeting Matt and seeing other homes he had built, we were comfortable putting our trust in him to handle this project. With the exception of a few minor hiccups along the way, the project was completed on time and in exactly the manner we were hoping for. Matt, Dave, Justin, and everyone at FM Design Build were wonderful to work with from start to finish. They were extremely responsive throughout the entire process, and they stayed on top of contractors to keep the project moving, often having to deal with supply chain issues, labor shortages, and inclement weather. In the end, we could not be happier with how our house turned out. We would wholeheartedly recommend FM Design Build to anyone looking to build the home of their dreams.

We were struggling to find what we were looking for in homes available on the market, so we started looking for a custom home builder. We didn't care for many of the cookie cutter options that were out there, almost to the extent that we put our search for a new home on hold. Then we met Matt with FM Design Build. Matt's finishes are more beautiful than any other options we saw, and we were drawn to his personable demeanor and sincere care to give us what we were looking for in a custom home. The process was enjoyable and Matt helped a ton to make our lives easy. We were stressed about the possibility of too many decisions when building a custom home, but he simplified the process by providing a very detailed selection sheet from the start to work from. He talked through any ideas/customizations we wanted, and was very responsive through the whole process. The home building process in 2021 was nothing short of difficult because of the pandemic and the shortages that came along with it. Matt handled any curve ball thrown his way with grace and we couldn't be more grateful. We can't thank Matt and his team enough for building us such a beautiful home. We are so happy we met him when we did, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone interested in building a custom home.

We first met Matt after being on the verge of giving up on the idea of building a custom home in Kirkwood. Every builder we had interacted with either restricted customizations entirely or nickel and dimmed you for every little thing to the point it was prohibitive. There is a mentality among Kirkwood builders, especially in the current market, that anything will sell so why bother dealing with a client until it’s complete. Then along came Matt and FMDB. When we first saw the lot and proposed floor plans we knew it wouldn’t work for our needs, both my wife and I work from home and we’d need two separate and distinct office spaces. When we informed them of this within the hour Matt had sent multiple drawings completely changing the floor plan to accommodate our situation, a fantastic first sign. When we then met Matt in person he was not only extremely personable and knowledgeable but most importantly he was engaged in what we had to say and what we wanted out of a house, he honestly said all the right things. As we sit now in our beautiful new home and reflect on the process we can tell you that Matt absolutely walked the walk. For starters, he is one of the most responsive human beings I’ve ever interacted with. Day or night when I’d have an idea, thought, question or concern I’d reach out and literally on average he’d reply within a couple minutes. He was patient explaining each process, he never made us feel dumb for asking questions. He never seemed put out for requesting something to be changed or adjusted. When we worked with the design studio he was cognizant of our budget and showed us options that wouldn’t impact the price. When problems arose he was quick to reach out and inform us immediately and always had solutions at hand. He didn’t bombard us with change orders for every tweak, we never felt remotely exploited and any price adjustments he did make were reasonable and aligned with our expectations. He has a keen eye for details and a huge amount of respect in the craftsmanship and quality he’s stamping his name to. I could honestly go on and on as we feel such a tremendous gratitude at, as cheesy as it sounds, now owning our dream house. I will leave it at this, we could not recommend Matt or FMDB enough, they are a top tier developer that are building unique and truly custom beautiful homes in a sea of cookie-cutter cash-grab new builds. Kirkwood is lucky to have them. Also, huge shoutout to Dave, one of Matt’s project managers. For someone so humble he’s incredible at what he does and doesn’t leave the room until he’s accomplished what he’s set out to do.
